The Academic Senates of all ICAS partners—California Community Colleges, the California State University, and the University of California—have long been concerned with the commitment of the California Legislature and the Governor’s office to the 1960 Master Plan for Higher Education, which is on the threshold of its 50th birthday. In light of that concern and draconian cuts to the budgets of all segments of California higher education, California State Assembly Member Ira Ruskin has been invited to meet with ICAS to discuss common concerns about California’s commitment to higher education. Member Ruskin currently chairs the Assembly Budget Subcommittee on Resources and is a member of the Assembly Higher Education committee.
